The Italian Institute for Applied Musicology was established in February 2022 to promote all kinds of musicological research and organize events and projects with a focus on the field of applied musicology.
IAM also carries out the scholarly and editorial work of a number of international musicological publications, among which the new series ‘Musica Incarnata: Pedagogy, Performance and Market’ (General editors: Marcello Mazzetti and Livio Ticli) and ‘Applied Music Studies’ (General editors: Roberto Illiano and Massimiliano Sala), published by Brepols Publishers.
Morover, IAM organizes international conferences and symposia on various musicological topics, in collaboration with Foundations, Institutes and Universities throughout the world.
The Italian Institute for Applied Musicology has established partnership with the Centro Studi Opera Omnia Luigi Boccherini (CSOOLB), and has activated paths and projects in which the results of the research and the study of the discipline of applied musicology can have concrete feedback in daily life. For this reason, the IAM constantly organizes courses and labs dedicated to providing tools for learning skills through the use of music (and beyond), aimed at children in the early stages of eviolent age and those who are differently abled and more fragile.
